The table of plants – wondrous order

By Michal Yakir

Plants are the foundation upon which life draws its existence.

Development is innate to plants:
Plants grow continually.
Plants change and adapt.
Plants propel minerals and organic materials

Plants push the evolution of the whole biosphere, catalyzing growth and influencing all other kingdoms.

Man is also developing….
Thus we can correlate the development of plants with that of the human spirit and psyche,
and use it as an indicator of crossroads where development is imbalanced.
In short – where disease is.

This can be done by reading nature thru homeopathy.
By interpreting or decoding it thru homeopathy.

And then, like a book that its pages were scattered, and now assembled, we can read our Materia Medica as an ongoing narrative, a tale of man development – as well as the tale humanity development.

How do we do it?

When we group remedies according to botanical order

“as if one remedy”

A progressive pattern emerges:

Within each group – And between the groups

This botanical order can be organized and ordered in a 2-ways table –

With 2 directions of evolution:

Where the columns are botanical subclasses, And the Rows are botanical Orders and families.

I am referring now only to the Monocots and Dicots classis – the main divisions of plants, (as most of known plant remedies come from them).

Each class is “branching out” into big botanical groups, each more advanced than the other. Those are the Subclassis – or columns in the table:

This evolutionary directive creates the horizontal axis in the table

Each “branch” or subclass has developed within itself, forming groups we call FAMILIES, or ORDERS, each more evolutionary advanced than the other.

Those are the ROWS in the table

The developmental sequence of “between the columns” and “within the columns” – creates the horizontal and vertical directive in the table: So we get a 2 axis table!

This is the table of plants, we use larger divisions: ORDER

What is the Columns process?

The Columns process is a soul journey, formed and activated by the development of the “I” (the Ego)

The Columns process: separation and formation of the “I” (the Ego)

The need for development is inherent to the soul, and is as natural for it as is the body’s need to grow.

The soul initiates its development journey from a state of unity: the Ego is yet immersed in the Great totality (the “Self”) not yet formed, a primordial state.

The feminine quality dominant the first part.

The masculine dominates the rest of the journey

In the first columns: the feeble Ego is not yet formed, slowly building its borders. In a primordial, watery, birth-giving feminine state. Full of life force, yet uncontained (remedies like Nux-m, Asar, Nymph, Puls etc).

Once the soul cope with, learn from, and then separate from the maternal-feminine qualities, it is ready to struggle with the lessons of the paternal-masculine qualities.

The masculine`s separating, border giving nature, helps to develop an aware state: aware of itself and of others, ready to see beyond itself, beyond immediate family ties. Ready to mature toward relationship with the “other” and the collective. (Remedis: Bell, Nux-v, Arn, Olive, Verat)

The columns are a development and separation journey.

Separation meant to create awareness and higher level of love.

The table Rows

The rows (the Orders – the botanical groups within each column) portray stages of maturation within each column.

Starting with pre-birth (before the column process begins), through infancy, childhood and adolescence.

Reaching maturity (of the columns themes)

and eventually old age (the end of the column process).

The table Structure

As described, the table comprises of 2 parallel groups – Dicots and Monocots.

Both display the same qualities and repeat the same path of evolution.

( we use Cronquist`s systematics)

The columns journey IN DETAILS

The first column: The Magnolidae subclass
The most primitive subclass
and basically the origin for the other subclasses

1st Column: not formed yet

The Ego is weak, dependent and influenced (Puls, Staph). Naïve & primordial.

No borders, (Arist, Berb, Myrist).

Confusion (Asar, Nux-m).

No order, instable (Puls, Cocc)

Raw desires and emotions (Pip-m, Adon).

Dependant (Puls, Stap, Chell, Nymp…)

Simple, not separated yet (Lotus, Nuph). No boundaries, no skin: No protection from the outside,

Oversensitive. Impressionable.

Thus irritable, nervous and unable to concentrate.

The solution – escapism: addictions, alcoholism. Opium-like – or Looking for control Cheladonium- like.

A case of hypersensitivity and addiction

A young man of 15 who suffers from hyperactivity. He became an alcoholic, probably in order to gain popularity with his friends. Each hangover caused him extreme over sensory irritability: the senses were so exposed and acute that every touch hurt; the touch of clothing was unbearable, even eating hurt him, so that he would shut himself down in his room for two days after every drinking bout.

A case of hypersensitivity and addiction

We see the naïve, no ego state, the tendency to addiction and oversensitivity

He received Asarum

With the remedy this over sensitivity was gone and his hyperactivity diminished along with the propensity for drinking. (Koby Nehushtan)

2nd column
Areciddae & Hamamelidae subclassis

Column 2 : Here or There themes
erecting borders and identity

What is common to remedies in Hamamelidae and Arecidae?

Borders: tingling, formication or numb (Hamm, Urtica)

Issues of pulling together one`s strength. Seeking one’s strength, small or big, (Calad, Amor, Ulm, Ham) – Strength > easy exhaustion – or easy exhaustion (Jug, Querc)

Separated or not (Cann-i, Caan-s, Urtica)

Too much water

Too small or big (Calad, Amor, Ulm, Ham)

Here or there? Separate and become small – or stay immersed and lose yourself

3rd column
Subclass Caryophyllidae

This modest column is considered more advanced as all the species are characterized by a unified feature of the seed structure: a curved embryo with a double protective mantle, and unique chemicals like Ferulic acid

Main Remedies

Anhalonium, Cactus, Cereus, Opuntia

Phytolacca,  Spinach, Reum, Rumx

What makes this group unique? – the ability to withstand extreme conditions

3rd column

At this stage, to function as a significant force in the world, the Ego needs to separate from the smothering embrace of the Feminine element – the symbolic dragon… (dominant mother/wife, Guru, government, belief, external force).

A fierce journey to independence

3rd column – separate or die:

A POLARITY between 2 forces: A HEARTBEAT – the main affinity of the 3RD column.

* Struggle for separation:

  • “I want to do what I want to do”. Obstinacy
  • or- “Under superhuman control.”

>>  > between inflation, religious, benevolance

> to Avoid, Reject, Put out thorns…

> Go out into the desert… isolate

4th column: Comelidae (grains)

and the Dillenidae subclassis

4th column: Dillenidae & Comelidae (grains)

4th column: Separation from mother and family. Equanimity

Separation from the nurturing feminine element: the mother or the family/

Separate from your roots.

Be able to receive/give yet stay stable and independent. Balance

Themes of nurturing, being taken care of / forsaken, taking care of the family too early, Motherhood, over giving or accumulating.

4th column: Separation from mother and family. Maturity

Mother / child relationship (Thea, Choc)

Family issues (Cucurbitales)

Taking care of the family (Malvales)

Ability to withstand affluence… (Bry)

Balance (the grains)

Digestive and metabolism issues: from mouth to anus

5th Subclass: Rosidae from the Dicots

5th column: Rosidae

5th column: Subclass Rosidae: Me and the other

5th column themes:
split: me and the other

Masculine quality

Relationship and partnership (Rosales)

– All in a rigid way…

We starts with the Rosales

But we continue in a rigid, mind oriented, masculine way:

5th column: masculine elements – split, be yourself. Awareness: Mind over emotions

Hierarchy over the other

Laws and borders, work and order

Rigidity, hierarchy

Religion + rigidity = fanaticism

The mind takes over

The father !!

5th column: outside the family: work, religion

Awareness emerges of someone outside of himself, outside of the family: relationship, work.

Issue of work and tension.

Issues of religion and spirituality – met with a lot of rigidity: this is the low!

Pathology: Split. Order and hardness. Rigid opinions and emotions, suppression of emotions, denial. Inability to express emotions.

Physically: pathology of the extremities (represents doing), heart and lung.

Hardening and dryness on all levels.

The 6th column is composed of the Asteridae (in the Dicots) and the Lilidae (In the Monocots)

Dicotyledons remedies:

Belladonna, Capsicum, Dulcamara, Hyoscyamus, Mandragora, Solanum, Stramonium

Nux-vomica, Ignatia, Spigelia, Curare, Gelsemium,

Digitalis, Olive, China, Ipec, Coffea, Origanum, Menta

Arnica, Cham, Bellis, Cina, Echinacea, Calendula

What is common to all those remedies?

Issues of relationship with the world.

Place in the world (Verat, Aloe)

Enjoy the world (Lil-t, Orig, Agnus)

Being injured by the world (Arn, Bellis)

Being Persecuted by the world (Solanales)

Competition with others (Nux-v, Ign, Ment…)

Being unique, egocentricity (Composites, Labiales, Liliales).

War or peace, injury and pain, sensitivity (“).

6th column: feminine vs. masculine

  • How to balance the Feminine and the Masculine ?
  • Great desire for togetherness, but each partner is looking for his personal fulfilment… Man and woman compete for supremacy.
  • Battle of the sexes:
  • Competitiveness is a masculine quality that weakens the biologic feminine quality of the organism to receive, to conceive and be fertile.
  • Women are especially affected by work-related stress. Issues of infertility, miscarriages and pregnancy are common.

6th column: me and the group:

The Ego versus the world

The world attacks my borders. Hurt and injured – yet I want to be in it, or to prove myself in this world.

Inside versus outside force: get out to the world. Find your forte –

Being overwhelmed by the world >>

– Or stand out in the world – and be unique

We all want to be known, liked… appreciated, be in touch. We has become global, we has become ONE again…

More and more….

  • We started in the 1st column who has the potential for everything in it, but without the ability to do –
  • And we end in the 6th column where we have the ability to fulfill all the possibilities of the table.

– So All that man can be – IS included in column 6.

  • That is why column 6 cases include lots of unsolved issues, lots of desires, whishes, opportunities missed, pains….

From uniqueness to oneness

We open up again to awareness:

  • I belong to the world,
  • I am one with the world (consciously, this time)

I am responsible for the world

With the Asterales as the best example for the column: flowers that cooperate to work as one floret, yet each flower keeps its identity.

Case of broken limbs:

A woman in her 30, who broke her arms, back and hips due to a major fall. Came for homeopathy because the ulna and radius of her left hand are not fusing and she wants to prevent an operation (hipbone transplanted in her wrist).

According to the doctors this operation would be inevitable.

She is very 6th columnish: a woman who works hard, brings home money, strong, man like competitiveness. “in any relationship I was like the man – always the one to brake of the affair”.

-She is a Very active woman: she really Hates the weekends when she cannot go to the rehab to work on her arm – the feeling of time lost. Cannot handle the feeling of not being able to contribute – and then does absolutely nothing.

Pain as a woman, her son prefer the father – the one who actually takes care of him (her husband is softer, more feminine then herself)

Calendula helped, (not Arn – we tried Symp, Arn without results, and and Bell-p caused her depression)

Calendula was used for pain management during the rehab.

Pain was gone first. After 7 weeks the doctor could not believe her eyes when she saw the x-ray with bones almost completely fused.

Needless to say the operation was cancelled.

The journey did not end, there is one more column – the 7th column.

The 7th column does not exist yet

So in the 6th column all the lessons learned during the column`s journy are collected,

serving as the seed that will sprout in the next era – so as to heal the result of the split that occurred so long ago. Creating a new reality: the 7th stage.

The 7th column does not exist yet

It’s the end of the octave, the next potential

A new consciousness awaits at the end of the journey, all possibilities have their place

From one to unique, to a separate state – and back to one – consciously this time.
